Denny Walling is a former Major League Baseball player. Walling played all or part of eighteen seasons in the majors, from 1975 to 1992. He played his most games as a third baseman, but also saw significant time as an outfielder and first baseman. Walling may be best known as a pinch-hitting specialist for the Houston Astros. Nicknamed "Good Wood", Walling was a valuable bat off the bench for most of his career. Entering the 2009 season, his 108 career pinch hits are tied for 13th all-time. He hit .271 out of 2,945 lifetime at bats. Walling currently serves as a roving hitting instructor for the Baltimore Orioles. After his playing career ended, Walling remained in baseball as a coach. In the major leagues, he has served as the hitting coach for the Athletics from 1996 until 1998, and for the New York Mets from 2002 until 2004. In both positions, he served under manager Art Howe, who was his teammate in Houston. In 2007, he was hired by the Orioles as their roving minor league instructor, a position which he currently holds.
Bob Humphreys A former Major League baseball player, Bob was a pitcher over parts of 9 seasons (1962-1970) with the Detroit Tigers, St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Cubs, Washington Senators and Milwaukee Brewers. Humphreys was a member of the 1964 World Series champion Cardinals. An alumnus of Hampden-Sydney College, for his career he compiled an 27-21 record with a 3.36 earned run average and 364 strikeouts in 319 appearances, all but 4 as a relief pitcher.
Trip Kiser is a co-manager of Home Run Club. He played baseball at Barton and Ferrum College, and graduated from Radford University with a degree in business management. Trip is also Certified by the National Council on Strength and Fitness as a personal trainer.
Brandon Zolman is a Home Run Club Hitting and pitching instructor. He played at Western Carolina for two years and at Eastern Mennonite for two years as an outfielder and a pitcher. Brandon was the 2008 Rockbridge County Baseball League player of the year.
Seth Berry is a co manager of Home Run Club. Seth played infielder and pitcher at Tusculum College and Eastern Mennonite Univerity. Seth is a certified personal trainer through the National Council on Strength and Fitness.
Tiffany Crosby is a Team Speed and Agility Instructor at the Home Run Club. Tiffany graduated from Wilson Memorial High School in 2009, where she participated in Varsity Volleyball, Varsity Indoor and Outdoor Track. In Volleyball, Tiffany was chosen as the Offensive Player of the Year, as well as Second Team All-District. Other Awards: Spring City/ County Student Athlete, MVP for Indoor/Outdoor Track, and Senior Female Athlete of the Year. Tiffany has been All-State in Indoor and Outdoor track for the 55-meter hurdles, 55-meter dash, 100-meter hurdles, 400-meter relay, and long jump. She was the State Champion in the 55-meter hurdles, 400-meter relay, and Silver medalist in 100-meter hurdles. Tiffany qualified and competed in the National Scholastic Indoor Championship in the 60-meter hurdles. Currently, Tiffany holds school records at WMHS in the 55-meter hurdles, 55-meter dash, 100-meter hurdles, 200-meter relay, and the 400-meter relay. She also holds the State Single A Invitational record in the 55-meter dash and the 55-meter hurdles.
Randall Stevens is a Home Run Club pitching instructor who played at Ferrum College as a closer for three years. They were the USA South Champions and Regional runner up in 2005.
Summer Ramsey has 11 years of pitching experience, and graduated from Wilson Memorial High School in 2008. She was a member of the Varisty softball team all four years in high school, and while she was there she earned many awards. High School Awards: Rookie of the year as a freshman (2005). Received the MVP award as a sophomore, junior, and senior. (2006, 2007, 2008) 2nd Team All-District Shenandoah Pitcher 2006. 2nd Team All-Region B and First Team All-District Shenandoah Pitcher 2007 and 2008. Holds the VHSL state record for most innings pitched in a game (21 Innings). WMHS nominee for the City/County Student Athlete of the Year/Spring Sports 2008. Summer currently attends and pitches for Bridgewater college. In her first two years she had a cumulative record of 11-1, and helped Bridgewater College advance all the way to the “sweet 16” in 2009 in the NCAA Division III tournament.
Ryan Cooper is a Home Run Club pitching and hitting instructor who played for four years at Ferrum College as a pitcher and first base. They were the USA South Champions and Regional runner up in 2005. Ryan was a two time USA South all tournament team. He was also a Valley League all star and the 2009 RCBL player of the year.
Tim Brust is a Home Run Club pitching instructor at who pitched middle relief at VMI for two years.
J.R. Estes is a Home Run Club hitting instructor who played for four years at Bridgewater as an infielder and outfielder. Two time ODAC all tournament team. First team Division III all American in 2004. Played three years in the valley league, and one year on independent ball with the Gateway Grizzlies.
Bubba Pulley graduated from Stuarts Draft High School before moving on to Concord University on a baseball scholarship. Bubba was Concordes #1 pitcher but also got to play the field when he wasn’t on the mound. When he was on the mound he would consistently throw his fastball between 88 and 92 mph. Bubba was a 2 time all region pitcher and a 3 time all conference pitcher while at Concorde University. He even had a perfect year as a junior while going 7-0 as a starter and going 9 for 9 in save opportunities. He had the most wins in Concord School History with a Career record of 28-7 and a combined 14 saves. Bubba played his summer ball in the Valley League for two years on the Waynesboro Generals.
Jessica Dulin is a Home Run Club catching and hitting instructor. She started for four years as a catcher at Bridgewater College. While playing at Bridgewater she received all ODAC honors, and she was the only player in Bridgewater history to hit for the cycle. Jessica also coached at Bridgewater College for two years as a catching coach, and EMU for one year as the catching coach.
Kurt Walling Played for four years for Bridgewater College as an infielder and an outfielder.
T.J. Frazier is a Home Run Club hitting and pitching instructor who played for four years at Eastern Mennonite University. He was the Freshman of the Year in the ODAC his freshman year at EMU.
Coach Gary Kessler will be the Home Run Club’s main speed coach and oversee all speed programs for the club’s members. He was a United States Marine Corps officer for 23 years. He has been a track and field coach at the High school and College level for 29 years. Coach Kessler completed his USA Track and Field Level I Coaching Certification at the University of Maryland and his Level II Coaching Certification at Saint Thomas University, St. Paul, Minnesota. He was also privileged enough to attend the 2008 Pre-Olympic Sprint and Hurdle Symposium in Las Vegas. A select group of High School, College, and Elite Coaches were brought together to discuss and observe preparations for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. His special USA Track and Field endorsement is in sprints and hurdles. He has sponsored several youth summer speed camps for Augusta County Parks and Recreation and helps direct the local Hershey Track and Field meets. He has received Coach of the Year Honors in Track and Field in the Skyline District, Shenandoah District, and Southern Valley district.
